How much does a dentist cost in Jersey and Guernsey?
With no NHS pricing for most adults, island dental fees vary practice to practice. Here's what things typically cost in 2026, and how to make the numbers predictable.

Typical island prices at a glance
| Item | Typical Channel Islands price |
|---|---|
| Routine examination | £32–£45+ |
| New patient appointment (with X-rays) | £80–£90 |
| Hygiene appointment | £78–£95 |
| Small X-rays | around £32 |
| A typical routine year (2 exams, 2 hygiene, X-rays) | £280–£360 |
| Teeth whitening | up to £400 RRP (£250 for Harbour members via Luminous) |
Ranges compiled from published island price lists; every practice sets its own fees — always ask for a written estimate before treatment.
Why fees vary so much
Appointment length, clinician experience, technology and location all move the price — a 45-minute new-patient assessment with digital X-rays simply costs more to deliver than a 15-minute check. The bigger financial risk isn't the check-up fee, though: it's the unplanned treatment that follows a skipped year of check-ups.
Pay-as-you-go versus membership
Pay-as-you-go suits people who genuinely attend twice a year and never have surprises — which is almost nobody. A membership flips the model: Harbour's Anchor plan is £264 a year (£22 a month) for the same routine year that costs £280–£360 at typical island prices, and adds what no fee list shows — same-day emergency access, 10–20% off treatment, and £150 off Luminous whitening. Families do even better: the Crew Plan covers the household from £49 with every child free.
